For our newly appointed Head of Client Services, Sharnii Fisher, reducing cost to serve for energy retailers is her jam. She’s pouring over 20 years of energy industry experience into her new role, leading a team with the sole purpose of voicing customer needs and ensuring they are positioned as HQ of product development at Tally.
Tally devotes significant effort to ensuring our performance across quality, delivery and security practice is world-class. Sharnii’s new role represents the next chapter in this philosophy, and our growing client base will benefit immensely from her breadth of experience.
Sharnii was previously Head of Product at Tally, and prior to this her career spanned the full spectrum of customer-focused roles in the industry. She has done everything from supporting new entrants to launch their first energy offers to market, to managing call centres, back-office support and dispute resolution teams. But it hasn’t always been an easy ride.
For Sharnii, Tally has fostered a supportive and inclusive work environment where she feels women can thrive. As a single parent working full-time, the support Tally demonstrates for her family responsibilities has been game changing, especially when it comes to flexible working hours. Policies promoting work-life balance and equal opportunities has allowed her to grow her career while also being there for her family, and it has meant so much.
Sadly, not all tech companies are the same. Sharnii has observed women in tech battle preconceived ideas about their competence and ability, leading to a lack of opportunities, unequal pay and a hostile work environment. Navigating a career in a male-dominated industry has been a challenge for her, but she has managed to find powerful mentors – men and women – who have helped her grow.
In her new role, Sharnii will work closely with EGM and President – AU/NZ, Tim Szakacs, who has been a key driver of our customer-first philosophy. “Our service delivery team helps us focus our energy where it counts, enabling ways of working that ensures we’re able to meet our customers’ needs at scale” says Tim.
Under Sharnii’s leadership, we’re introducing a swathe of changes aimed at better servicing our growing client base, with their satisfaction her top priority. Along with her particular passion for reducing cost to serve and driving a customer-first philosophy, Sharnii thrives off product development, identifying process improvement and driving operational efficiency. She applies her subject matter expertise and versatility to her new role with Tally and appreciates collaborating and learning from the remarkably clever people she’s had the privilege of working with under the Tally umbrella in recent years.
Juggling life while still progressing in her career has come easier thanks to Sharnii’s alignment with Tally’s philosophy of continuous improvement. To succeed as a leader in energy tech right now, we must embrace rapid evolution. It’s this evolution that keeps Sharnii learning on the job, and that’s what she loves most about the industry. Her advice for those wishing to succeed in energy tech is to focus, advocate for yourself and have faith. This is the commitment she makes to herself, and how she delivers the high standard of work that has seen her career bloom.
With two young girls at home to inspire, Sharnii recognises the impact her approach to learning will have. She is excited about the challenges that will come with this change at Tally, not only for the company and her customers, but for her own development too. Like the energy industry at large, she is evolving – and she’s loving it.
